the wolf.

the shadow of my wings over trees,
(on my way to you) has gotten larger.
i’m getting closer.

tangle me in fur and teeth.

i see you, mighty wolf with big eyes that are
windows to your soul.

looking ahead, into each others eyes,
we face each other
passing by to what is unknown,
my eyes follow you and
i forget to keep walking
fingers itch to tough your lips, your smile
it feels like i’m deceiving myself
you are a flame i cannot hold
i lie and say hello
when i want to say
i need you close to me

weathered face, weathered heart.

let’s be strangers for just a moment,
we pretend and so we are, i suppose
now we are nothing at all.
staring into your eyes
flashing to daydreams of what could be
i hear you spill your secrets,
i wish they were mine, too

wind turns to air turns to breath
my heart beats and transforms and renews
downcast eyes reveal the skies and

heartaches and mistakes

a simple advance toward simplicity
is a dream for the hopeless (perhaps helpless?)
it will stay on the tip of my mind
and at the back of my tongue
i’ll watch it dance before my very eyes
what a mistake it was to try this alone
someone left me a flower,
but it was alone when i got here
its fine with me, i’ll pretend you’re near
hold my hand, and i won’t fly away
so stay star-crossed and keep singing to me
i love it when you dance around me with your lullabies
and one day i’ll realize that you were next to me all along
and we won’t need to look for each other anymore.
